DIY - Kerzen Wimpelkette - Washi Tape Candle Bunting

Heute hält uns alle die royale Hochzeit in Atem. Danach startet das Brautpaar in die traumhaften Flitterwochen und für uns heißt es, auf ins wohlverdiente Wochenende. Für alle, die Lust auf Deko haben und wie ich im Washi Tape Fieber sind, gibt es jetzt ein kleines Tutorial. Inspiriert durch eine Verpackungsidee von der zauberhaften Ez von Creature Comforts habe ich für meine Wohnzimmer-Kerze ein buntes Wimpelkleid gefertigt. Das geht ganz einfach und man hat eigentlich alles, was man braucht Zuhause. Habt' ihr Lust? Dann geht's los!

Today we're all glued to the telly, watching Will & Kate say "Yes"... After the big wedding event, the two newlyweds will be off to enjoy their lovely honeymoon. And we will dash into our happy weekend! For all of you, who are in the spirit of crafting, I put together a little DIY tutorial, being inspired by a packaging post from lovely Ez of Creature Comfort. It's about my beloved Washi tape. Don't you love this tape? It's such a multitalent. You can use it for Scrapbooking, Greeting Cards, Packaging or as a pretty bunting for candles, as in my current project. Are you up to this? Then let's tape!

Hier ist die Anleitung in fünf einfachen Schritten:

1. Klebt die erste Farbe des Tapes auf das Backpapier. Die Länge des Streifens ist abhängig davon, wie lang ihr die Wimpelkette braucht. Ich habe vorher grob den Durchmesser meiner Kerze gemessen.
2. Jetzt das zweite Tape aufkleben und zwar so, dass es das erste Tape etwas überlappt. Genauso mit dem dritten Tape verfahren. Und danach die Kanten rechts und links gerade abschneiden sowie oben und unten nur noch etwas Backpapier als Rand stehen lassen.
3. Den Backpapier-Tape Streifen jetzt wie eine Ziehharmonika falten.
4. In ein Ende des gefalteten Papiers ein umgekehrtes V schneiden.
5. Alles wieder auffalten, glatt streichen und vorsichtig das Washi-Wimpel vom Backpapier abziehen und nach euren Vorstellungen um die Kerze kleben, vorsichtig andrücken und evtl. Luftblasen rausstreichen. Fertig ist das hübsche Kerzenkleid!

Dress up your candle in 5 easy steps:

1. Place a long strip of the first Washi tape on a piece of baking paper. I first measured the diameter of my candle and used this as a length for the tape.
2. Place a second tape accordingly and make sure it overlaps the first layer. Third tape just the same... Then trim the baking paper on the long sides, so that there's only a small border left and cut off the rough ends on the sides.
3. Now fold the paper accordion like.
4. Hold it firmly and cut out a reversed V-shape on one end.
5. Unfold the paper, even it a litte and then you're ready to tape it to your candle. Simply smooth out any air bubbles... And your candle is ready to shine!

Nur noch einmal Schlafen und es ist soweit... Der große Tag für Will & Kate ist gekommen und für uns alle, die jetzt im britischen Hochzeitsfieber sind. Alles steht in den Startlöchern für den Big Day! Auch meine Aufregung steigt und ich freue mich auf meine kleine royale Wedding Party morgen, mit Freunden, Champagner, bunten Fähnchen und hoffentlich ganz viel Glamour...

Als ich kürzlich die Firma 1st Option entdeckte, die wunderschöne Häuser und Locations für Film und Fernsehen in England vermittelt, war ich hin und weg! Es hat mir so viel Spaß gemacht, für euch ein paar meiner Favoriten zusammenzustellen. Also tretet ein und seid willkommen!

Hello everyone! Today I invite you to my little dreamhouse at the british coast. When I recently discovered the website of 1st Option with all the beautiful houses and locations, it felt like house heaven to me. I had so much fun putting together some of my favorite rooms and photos for you. So let's have a look, shall we?
I fell in love with this kitchen at first sight. I adore the open cupboards, the long wooden table and how much light there is...

Fast genauso wichtig wie eine schöne große Küche, ist für mich ein inspirierendes Arbeitszimmer. Denn darin schreibe ich nicht nur die Posts für meinen Blog, sondern werkle auch an vielen, kleinen Hobbyprojekten.  Das folgende Arbeitszimmer bietet neben viel Platz auch super viel Licht durch die drei großen Fenster. Da bekomme ich richtig Lust, mein Moodboard zu erweitern, die Nähmaschine rauszuholen oder auch mal das eine oder andere Bild zu malen... Wäre das nicht auch ein kreatives Zimmer für euch?

Almost as important as a nice big kitchen is a creative workspace for me. This one is sooo spacious and the three windows provide wonderful daylight for working on little craft projects and even take some pictures of the things I make...

Nachdem wir nun ein leckeres Essen in der zauberhaften Küche genießen konnten, vielleicht ein paar bunte Kissenhüllen im Arbeitszimmer genäht haben, ist es doch Zeit, mal die Füße hochzulegen, oder was meint ihr? Da wir in England sind, darf ein Kamin im Wohnzimmer nicht fehlen. Oh wie gemütlich, jetzt in einen fluffigen Sessel sinken, ein gutes Buch lesen und dabei dem Knacken des Kaminfeuers lauschen...

After cooking a delicious meal in my dream kitchen and maybe some sewing in that wonderful study, it feels good to relax in the living room. Since we're in Britain, it's a must to have a fireplace. Oh how I love sitting in a comfy chair, reading a book while listing to the crackling fire...

Oh, die Wärme des Kaminfeuers hat mich müde gemacht. Also nichts wie ab ins Bett. Aber vorher noch schnell ins Bad gehuscht. Das übrigens zwar klein aber wirklich fein ist, mit seinen weißen Panelen und den eingelassen Regalen. Gefällt mir richtig gut! Euch auch?

Well, the warmth of the fire got me tired... So I get ready for bed. Quickly wash my face and brush my teeths in this nice bathroom with its wonderful decor and panels, all in white.

Jetzt Gute Nacht gesagt...In dem schönen Schlafzimmer mit zart rosafarbener Tapete und der außergewöhnlichen Wand mit eingelassener Fensterfront schläft es sich richtig ladylike...Süße Träume garantiert!

Now Good Night! I will definitely have sweet dreams in such a lovely bedroom. Isn't this inhouse window wall unique? And the pink wallpaper with its vintage pattern give the room a warm and country home flair. 

Nach einer erholsamen Nacht in meinem Traumhaus, finde ich nichts erfrischender und inspirierender als einen langen Spaziergang am Strand. Und da wir den direkt vor der Tür haben, schnappen wir uns die Gummistiel und stapfen los... Vielleicht finden wir ja schönes Strandgut, was wir zu Collagen oder Schmuck verarbeiten können...Und wenn ihr keine Lust zu laufen habt, fahren wir einfach mit den bunten Kajaks aufs Meer und begrüßen die Fische!

After a good nights rest, there's nothing more inspiring than waking up to the sound of the ocean. So let's put on our wellies for a nice long walk at the beach. Maybe we'll find some lovely stones or even a little treasure from a sunken ship? We could also try out the kayjaks, yay...!

Unser kleiner Spaziergang hat mich hungrig gemacht. Wie sieht's bei euch aus, Lust auf Frühstück? Dann flink zurück in die großartige Küche zu einem britischen Frühstück mit gaaanz viel Tee, lecker Eiern und Schinken. So gut gestärkt lade ich euch dann zu einem Trip ins nächste Dorf ein. Ich nehm' euch einfach auf meinem Fahrrad mit. Aber halt, zuerst müssen wir noch die Reifen aufpumpen... Gemeinsam geht's schneller und schon sind wir weg, den Tag genießen!

Our little expedition got me hungry... So let's have breakfast with freshly baked bread, eggs, bacon and lots of tea. Then I'll invite you to a shopping trip to my nearest town. We can take my bike... Oh, wait a minute, first we have to fix the tires... Let's do this together and we're off to enjoy the day!

Royal Wedding Preparations...

Diese Woche ist es soweit... William und Kate geben sich vor großer Kulisse und viel Publikum das Ja-Wort. Seid ihr auch schon im Hochzeitsrausch? Mich hat meine Mama angesteckt, die seit langem jedes royale Event gebannt verfolgt und bei Hofe ein und ausgeht... Per TV versteht sich... Am Freitag werden wir beide ganz ladylike das königliche Event verfolgen, natürlich standesgemäß mit passendem Decor, Champagner und royalen Häppchen...Wer von euch feiert auch mit?

It's Wedding Week friends! This Friday William and Kate will finally say Yes. Are you excited as I am? My Mum got me infected with the Royal virus. She watches every Royal event and is an expert in this field. So on the 29th, we will put on our pretty dresses, open the champagne and watch the big event. Are you celebrating as well?

Ob Kate schon sehr aufgeregt ist? Wäre ich die Braut, würde ich jetzt sicher kein Auge mehr zu tun. So viele Leute, die das Event verfolgen und jeden ihrer Schritte... Eher nichts für mich... Am meisten wird ja derzeit noch die Frage des Hochzeitskleids diskutiert. Ich habe gelesen, dass sie sich angeblich ihr Kleid selbst schneidert... Klingt ziemlich verrückt... Denn bei all den Vorbereitungen auch noch die Nähnadel zu schwingen und ein Kleid zu kreieren bei dem die Welt den Atem anhält, dafür braucht es fast schon übermenschliche Kräfte... Ich tippe eher darauf, dass sie sich ein Traumkleid anfertigen lässt und bin gespannt, wie sie aussehen wird. Auch wenn wir selbst nicht in den Genuss eines Prinzessinnenkleids kommen, können wir ebenso royal speisen. Und zwar mit himmlisch leckeren Royal Cupcakes.

The most kept secret is still Kate's wedding dress. I read some rumors that she is designing the dress herself... Can't believe this! With all the preparations going on, the excitement of walking down the aisle with millions of people watching her, I cannot image her having the nerv to turn on the sewing machine...I guess she will be waring some designer dream dress, looking fabulous! And for all of us, who are not so lucky to wear the Cinderella Slippers, we can still dine like a princess with these Royal Cupcakes!

In königlicher Vorfreude auf die kommende Hochzeit von Will und Kate, wollte ich heute ein wenig britischen Lifestyle versprühen. Meine Liebe zu England ist schon vor längerer Zeit entstanden. Angefangen hat sie eigentlich mit der geliebten Jane Austen und ihren zauberhaften Geschichten.

In anticipation regarding the upcoming royal wedding of Kate and William, I thought I’d share some of my Brit-Love with you today. I’ve been in love with all things British, since discovering the work of Jane Austen quite some time ago. Last year I fulfilled my dream to travel through Devon and Cornwall, which was wonderful. I could’ve set up my new home in Dartmouth right away. The picture book town at the river Dart is one of my favourite places in Devon, so picturesque and inspiring and well worth a visit!
